Essence of Life

What is Life? And more importantly, how do we spend it. Of course, everybody's interpretation is different, as I've already in The Holy Kaleidoscope and I'll try not to comment on that but I'll elaborate on my own.

Ever since we were children, it was drilled into our head that if we want to live a normal comfortable life we need to work hard and study hard. So you see in addition to yourself, others running around. Some even panic.

Overtime greed has proportionally increased in our society. Sure costs have gone up as well but that has its own factors. Which may or may not be due to somebody's greed.

Generally this chase is material and worldly, defined and bound by factors that a small group of people decide. The greed within them is strong. You can read a similar rhetoric at numerous other places in further detail perhaps.

To me life is, having a fresh hot biryani right after the Jumma prayers, on a scalding summer day. Maybe having a chilled Pakola right after. Chilling out on comfortable couch and enjoying Peshawari Ice Cream while watching a move or a match. Sharing this with the people you love and enjoy is the ultimate experience.

Walking to the market to run an errand with your family or friends. Stopping along the way to grab a plate of Paani Puri or Bhutta (corn), with the sprinkle of the usual spices, lemon etc. Then continuing with the day.

Cherishing every care that my wife would put into making this home. Enjoying our anniversaries and birthdays. Try to do something special each time. Loving her.

Play hide and seek with the kids and get them excited with a scare when found. Take it a step further by grabbing them and tickling them until they cannot stand it. They would want you to let go but when you do, they come back for more.

Sitting comfortably, with a nice brew and a book. Enjoying the scapes the author makes in your head with their words. Contemplating about the issues raise or scenes depicted.

Coming up with a new idea for food recipes. Experimental cooking, and sharing that meal with your loved ones.

Going up to [Naan Tandoor](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tandoorto] pick up a stack for everyone at home, who is waiting to be fed that Nihari

Grabbing a fresh Lassi or a Milk Bottle from the local milk shop. A topper.

Catching your children off guard, while they sit on the kitchen floor, and devour that chocolate ice cream, without permission. ... and then you join in.

Experiences like these, and many many others, lead to interactions and further experiences. One has casual encounters. But these encounters, casual as they may be, are all meaningful. Unlike that TPS Report, that you are going to pull your hair out for before the 4 P.M. deadline. I am not saying that working, earning money, or wanting a comfortable life is bad. I am just highlighting that we just need enough because the source of contentment is elsewhere.
